Lubbock, TX – Authorities from the Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit are urgently seeking the public’s assistance in locating a shooting suspect involved in a violent incident that left two individuals seriously injured outside a convenience store.
On January 1st, at 12:50 a.m., Lubbock Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 2600 block of Avenue Q. Upon arrival, officers discovered 46-year-old Obby Galicia and 27-year-old Christopher Galicia suffering from severe injuries. EMS promptly transported both victims to the University Medical Center (UMC).
The preliminary investigation revealed that Christopher and Obby were in a heated argument with an unknown individual outside the convenience store. The situation escalated when the unidentified suspect exited the store and confronted Obby. A physical altercation ensued, leading to the suspect striking Obby with a firearm. Subsequently, the suspect fired shots at both Obby and Christopher, resulting in gunshot wounds for both victims.
In a swift and alarming turn of events, the suspect fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a community in shock and two individuals fighting for their lives.
