TEXARKANA, TX – Authorities in Texarkana are urging the public for assistance in identifying a man involved in a vicious assault that took place inside Central Mall over the weekend. The incident unfolded when a man, attempting to intervene in a situation involving unsupervised teenagers, was violently attacked, resulting in severe facial trauma.
On Saturday afternoon, police responded to an “assist an ambulance” call, initially reported as a seizure. Upon arrival at Central Mall, they discovered the victim had been brutally attacked rather than experiencing a medical emergency. Subsequent investigations have shed light on the disturbing events leading to the assault.
According to the preliminary findings, an older female Central Mall employee confronted two unsupervised teenagers playing with children’s strollers. The confrontation escalated when the teenagers verbally abused the employee. The victim, another mall employee, intervened on her behalf and ordered the teenagers to leave. The situation seemed to have subsided, with the victim returning to his duties.
However, the assailant, accompanied by the two teenagers, returned moments later and confronted the victim. Without warning, the assailant punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall backward. Shockingly, the attacker continued the assault, delivering several more blows to the victim’s face while he lay on the floor. The assailant callously left the scene with the teenagers as if nothing had occurred.
The victim sustained severe injuries, including a concussion and multiple broken orbital bones around his eyes. After initial treatment at a local hospital, he was transferred to a Little Rock hospital for further evaluation due to concerns about the extent of his injuries. Fortunately, he has been released from the hospital and recuperates at home.
