The Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division Robbery detectives are asking the public for assistance locating a robbery victim connected to a violent incident near the 8200 block of Melrose Avenue on January 30, 2024.

During the incident, two suspects who demanded his watch followed the victim into a business. The victim resisted, leading to a confrontation in which the suspects pistol-whipped him. The assailants forcefully removed the victim’s watch before fleeing the scene in a white 2014 Toyota Corolla. The victim, however, was left in a black SUV before law enforcement arrived.

The first suspect, described as a 20 to 25-year-old Black male standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 170 pounds, was seen wearing a gray jumpsuit and armed with a handgun. The second suspect, a 20 to 25-year-old Black male standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds, was wearing all dark clothing.

On January 31, 2024, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department apprehended and detained Suspect-2, identified as Demetri Sherman, who was driving the white 2014 Toyota Corolla near the 22800 block of Calle San Juan De Los Lagos in Moreno Valley. Sherman was subsequently arrested and booked for robbery.

Wilshire Robbery Detective A. Aguayo urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of the robbery victim or additional details about the incident to contact the Wilshire Robbery Division at (213) 922-8215. Tips can also be reported anonymously to the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477) or online at www.lacrimestoppers.org.
