Munster, Indiana – On February 11, 2024, at approximately 12:30 PM, the Munster Police Department responded to a robbery report at Jewel at 716 Ridge Road.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, a 72-year-old female, who recounted the harrowing ordeal. According to her statement, while placing items in her vehicle’s trunk, another car pulled up next to her. A male subject exited the car’s passenger side and demanded her purse. Despite her resistance, the assailant forcefully grabbed her bag, causing her to sustain non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene in the waiting vehicle, which was reported stolen earlier on the same day by the Gary Police Department.
The Munster Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division swiftly identified the stolen vehicle used in the robbery. Additionally, the victim’s credit card was unlawfully utilized in Dolton, Illinois, shortly after the incident. Furthermore, her purse and cell phone were discovered at a Calumet City, Illinois, gas station.
