Take, for instance, the recent incident that unfolded in an AT&T store in their lovely Texan town. In a bold move that would have Ocean’s Eleven nodding in amateur approval, one such enthusiast decided to liberate a cellphone from the shackles of its store display.

We’re not exactly sure what went through this individual’s mind. Maybe it was the call of the wild… or rather, the call of the 5G. Perhaps the device’s sleek curves and glossy screen were too much for our hero, and like any true love story, he just had to have it – right then and there.
It all played out like a scene from a budget heist movie – minus the suave suits and the snappy dialogue. There he was amidst the temple of smartphones, in broad daylight, showing the world that possession is nine-tenths of the law, but only if you don’t get caught.
Joking aside, we need to get that phone back and have a serious chat with our modern-day Robin Hood of handheld devices. We understand the allure of the latest model, but here’s a radical idea: how about we pay for things we want?
